Last Thursday in Amsterdam, we celebrated the opening of Martha Coopers’ exhibition, ‘1958 - 2008: a fifty-year retrospective,’ at Studio Apart. The exhibit, which featured over 330 photographs, a complete overview of Martha’s career up to date, was set up together with our friends from Patta, Mo Manager and, of course, the sweet people at Studio Apart. From the hot deserts of Afghanistan to the cold streets of Baltimore, there were photographs from her National Geographic days as well as her fundamental documentation of the New York graffiti scene in the 1970’s.
We were lucky enough to have Martha join us as our guest in Amsterdam, meeting both old and new friends alike, and keeping true to the message by signing books and posters.
Thanks Martha.
Here you’ll find some images from the opening. Go check the exhibition, it runs through until the 8th of May.
